The F/W 2016 collection seeks to heighten the level of craftsmanship and quality in our accessories– presenting a curated selection of refined, heritage pieces. We expand on classic stitches and showcase the possibilities of composition, texture and body found in the materials sourced from the Peruvian highlands.
During the design process of every collection, Emilime explores the intersection of traditional Peruvian textiles and techniques by inciting a dynamic and creative inquiry between makers.
The process of outlining the F/W 2016 collection began with the team engaging our artisan network in Peru in a dynamic design competition. We invited all of the knitters who make Emilime products to creativity and design trainings, exposing them to trend research, innovative techniques and new materials. Our goal was to provide exposure to hard-to-access information and encourage creative confidence.
The swatches and ideas presented in the competition were vibrant and unique, reflecting the trends that formed the base of the collection. Certain talents emerged within each group throughout the process, and the artisans demonstrated their capacity for innovation. The winning participants received tools for their workshops to aid in production and quality control.
